Martin Odegaard agents and Arsenal come to agreement on his future as PSG chase transfer

According to reports, Martin Odegaard’s agents and Arsenal have reached an understanding that there is no need to hurry in signing a new contract since both sides have aligned interests.

Discussions are scheduled to take place regarding an extension to Odegaard’s current agreement, but it might take several months before everything is settled.

Odegaard has emerged as one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season. He had an impressive goal-scoring record from the midfield, being Arsenal’s joint-top goalscorer with 15 goals, along with providing seven assists.

In addition to his on-field contributions, Odegaard also excelled in his role as the club captain, demonstrating his abilities and leadership qualities.

Despite having only two years left on his current contract with Arsenal, the club is not currently concerned about reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain, who are said to admire the former Real Madrid prodigy.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a renowned transfer expert, discussions are expected to take place between Martin Odegaard’s representatives and Arsenal, although there is no immediate urgency to finalize a new contract.

Odegaard has expressed his desire to continue playing for Arsenal, and the club is delighted with his performances since his permanent transfer in the summer of 2021. Romano suggests that news of a contract extension for Odegaard may not surface until later in the year.

Recently, Arsenal secured the long-term futures of two of their key young talents. Bukayo Saka, for instance, signed a new four-year contract that will keep him at Arsenal until 2027.

Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has signed a contract with Arsenal that will keep him at the club until 2026, with the possibility of extending for an additional year. The club is currently engaged in ongoing discussions with defender William Saliba regarding his future.

William Saliba’s current contract is set to expire in a little over a year, and if an extension cannot be reached, there are expected to be numerous clubs interested in acquiring the 22-year-old, including Paris Saint-Germain. Saliba had an impressive debut season in the Premier League before his progress was halted by a back injury in March.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has faced frequent inquiries about Saliba’s future. While Arteta has affirmed that all parties involved desire a satisfactory resolution, he has acknowledged that it may take some time to reach an agreement.

Arteta said: “We are trying. We are having conversations and we are trying to maintain the talent we have at the club as I said before.

“But things take time. You have to agree it. There are different parties involved. I think everybody’s intention is the same and hopefully we’ll find the right solution.”
