Mason Mount Likely to Alter Chelsea Plans with Liverpool Transfer as Top Choice over Arsenal

There are currently three teams interested in signing Mason Mount from Chelsea, but a recent report suggests he may change his mind about leaving.

 Mount, who rose through the ranks of Chelsea’s academy and has become a key player for both the club and England, is in the final year of his contract and has not yet agreed to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

 As a result, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich have all been linked with him, with Liverpool reportedly being the most likely to sign him, according to Football Insider.

There is now a report suggesting that Chelsea is becoming more optimistic about the possibility of Mason Mount signing a new contract with the club.

 According to the online outlet, Chelsea has revised their renewal offer to the 24-year-old, and they are now offering substantial bonuses linked to his playing time and goal-scoring, in addition to a base salary of £100,000 per week. 

This change means that Mount’s potential earnings could rival those of Chelsea’s top earners, including fellow academy graduate Reece James.

One of the factors that has previously deterred Mount from signing a new contract with Chelsea is the length of the contracts offered by the club.

 However, with the recent changes to the renewal offer, Mount may be more willing to extend his stay at Chelsea.

 He has already made 195 appearances for the club, scoring 33 goals and providing 37 assists, as well as winning three trophies. This season, he has played in 35 matches across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing six assists.

Mason Mount ready to play under Pochettino

Chelsea has faced a challenging season overall, with both head coaches Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter being sacked along the way. 

Currently, Mount is playing under the guidance of interim manager Frank Lampard, who played a pivotal role in launching his career while at Derby County and Chelsea. Looking beyond this season, Chelsea is reportedly close to appointing Mauricio Pochettino as Lampard’s successor, a development that Mount sees as positive.

 Furthermore, Chelsea has assured Mount that he will have a significant role to play in the team they are building. This sense of being an essential part of the project could be a factor in Mount’s decision to stay at the club.

In case Mount decides to leave Chelsea, he will have three potential options to consider as Manchester City and Newcastle United have withdrawn from the race for him. 

According to the report, Liverpool and Arsenal are preparing to submit bids for the midfielder, although the exact amount of their offers is unknown. 

Liverpool is reportedly looking to revamp their midfield, while Arsenal needs to strengthen their defensive options but may also be interested in Mount’s creativity. 

Alternatively, Mount could choose to move abroad, with former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel rumored to be interested in bringing him to Bayern Munich.

Indeed, it would be an intriguing move for Mount to join another club, but if Chelsea can ensure him a significant role in the team, then it might be best for him to stay. 

However, if he feels that he may get lost in the sea of new signings and competition, then he may have to consider other options. 

In this regard, Liverpool could be an attractive choice, but Mount will have to weigh all his options carefully. 

Both Arsenal and Bayern Munich are likely to have Champions League football on offer next season, which may make them even more attractive.

Interestingly, Mount is not the only Chelsea midfielder who has been linked with a reunion with former manager Thomas Tuchel. There have been rumors that Tuchel is also interested in signing Jorginho, which could add another layer of complexity to Chelsea’s midfield situation.
