Mikel Arteta explains celebrations with pitch-invading kid after Arsenal winner
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has clarified the reason behind the celebration scenes that occurred in injury time after his team scored a last-minute goal to defeat Bournemouth 3-2.
Bournemouth took an early lead with a goal from Phillip Billing, which was the second-fastest goal in Premier League history, but Marcos Senesi scored a second goal for the visitors in the second half. Arsenal then responded quickly to score two goals and secure the win.
Midfielder Thomas Partey scored a goal from a short distance, and Ben White scored another to equalize the score with 20 minutes remaining.
In the end, substitute Reiss Nelson scored the winning goal with a fantastic shot past Bournemouth’s goalkeeper Neto in the 97th minute, earning Arsenal all three points.
During the excited celebrations, a young fan managed to get onto the pitch, and Arteta helped the child return to his family by holding his hand. Commenting on the lively scenes after the match, Arteta described them as “crazy.”
“You lose sight of where you are. I started to run, I didn’t know where I was running. Then I saw a kid next to me that I had to give to security.
“Looking at the faces of the supporters. The smiles & joy in their eyes. It’s just great to live.”
