Mudryk claims he hit cross-shot on purpose to score against Arsenal
Mykhailo Mudryk needed nine months to net his debut goal for Chelsea. Impressively, he secured his second goal in his subsequent start, and this occurred right after half-time during yesterday’s match against Arsenal.
During this period, he also clinched his inaugural goal while playing for Ukraine. Evidently, Mudryk is in a phase of remarkable developments in his career.
And when a player is in such a phase, unexpected things can transpire, like unintentionally redirecting a cross toward Raheem Sterling.
Surprisingly, the ball ended up sailing over Arsenal’s goalkeeper David Raya, who had strayed too far from his goal line, expecting the cross.

However, as the saying goes, “you make your own luck,” and Mudryk disclosed afterward that the goal was not a stroke of luck, but rather a deliberate move.
βIt was something in the middle, between a cross and a shot. Before the game, our goalkeeper coach told me to look at their keeper because sometimes he is trying to read things and he can just lose the goal, so I can chip him. So it was something I knew and I kept it in my head. I went for something between the cross and the shot and it was a good decision.β
Regrettably, Chelsea would ultimately surrender their two-goal advantage in the late stages, causing a great deal of disappointment, anger, and sadness.
