Norway manager Solbakken issues Odegaard update to Arsenal fans
Arsenal’s captain, Martin Odegaard, is anticipated to make a comeback from his injury in time for the team’s upcoming Premier League match against Brentford.
Odegaard has been focused on his recovery, having been absent from Arsenal’s last three matches and also missing international duty with Norway.
Despite grappling with a recent hip problem, Odegaard’s absence from games against Sevilla, Newcastle United, and Burnley has been primarily due to concussion protocol.
The playmaker suffered a facial injury during a training session before Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Newcastle earlier this month, and as a consequence, he has not played for Mikel Arteta’s squad since coming on as a substitute in an EFL Cup loss against West Ham United on November 1.
While Martin Odegaard couldn’t join his national team due to injury, Norway’s manager Stale Solbakken has downplayed concerns about the seriousness of the player’s injury.
According to a report from football.london, Odegaard is expected to be ready for Arsenal’s upcoming away match against Brentford after making use of the international break for recovery.
The report indicates that Odegaard participated in training at London Colney on Tuesday, and unless there are unforeseen setbacks, he is set to rejoin the squad in preparation for a series of upcoming fixtures.
Solbakken, speaking before Norway’s Euro 2024 qualifiers against Scotland, further emphasized that Odegaard is nearing a return to action.
“I’ve just come from a 45-minute talk with Martin,” Solkbakken told reporters. “He is getting better and better and gradually stepping up.
“It has been more or less three weeks without any special training, so it is important to take things step by step. Both he and Arsenal probably hope that he is available for the Brentford match.”
Before his recent period of absence, Martin Odegaard had made 15 appearances for the Gunners in the current season, contributing five goals and one assist.
Should he be included in the lineup against Brentford next Saturday, the 24-year-old will aim to play a key role in helping Arsenal secure a third consecutive victory across all competitions.
