Martin Odegaard criticized his Arsenal colleagues for surrendering a two-goal advantage against West Ham United on Sunday, which occurred just one week after the Gunners failed to secure a win against Liverpool despite being ahead by two goals.
In Sunday’s match, Gabriel Jesus and Odegaard scored to put Mikel Arteta’s team in a comfortable position before the Hammers mounted a comeback and earned a draw with goals from Said Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen.
Martin Odegaard has voiced his dissatisfaction with his Arsenal teammates’ performance, as Michail Antonio’s missed opportunity towards the end could have resulted in Arsenal losing the game.
During an interview with Sky Sports after the match, Odegaard pointed out that there were similarities to the previous week’s game against Liverpool, where they started strong but then allowed their opponents to dictate play and exploit their strengths.
“We gave them the game they wanted, we gave them hope, and that’s on us. We have to look forward now.
“Plus, we started to do a lot of stupid things on the ball, we allowed them to play on the long balls.
“We have to remember we are still top of the league with everything in our own hands.
“Now, we need to have the same mindset, same mentality to make sure we win the next one.”
On Friday, the Gunners are set to take on Southampton with the aim of bouncing back from their recent setbacks. This will be crucial for Arsenal, as they have a midweek match against Manchester City, which could potentially determine the outcome of the title race.
