Opportunity for Arsenal: Brighton’s Recent Transfer Moves May Open Door to Sign Kaoru Mitoma
Following Brighton’s recent transfer activity, Arsenal may have a clear opportunity to acquire Kaoru Mitoma, the talented winger from Brighton, during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Arsenal’s coach, Mikel Arteta, is reportedly interested in signing a winger as he prepares for a busy schedule of Champions League matches next season after securing a top-four finish.
Mitoma has had an outstanding season with Brighton, scoring ten goals and providing seven assists across all competitions, which has attracted the attention of both Arsenal and Chelsea.
Despite Brighton’s insistence that he is not for sale this summer, Arsenal may have found a way to sign him.
How Arsenal could sign Mitoma
According to the Guardian, Brighton has confirmed the signing of Joao Pedro from Watford in a transfer deal worth £30 million.
The 21-year-old forward has scored 24 goals in 109 appearances for Watford, and his move to the Amex stadium is expected to be quickly followed by the arrival of Liverpool midfielder James Milner.
With Joao Pedro’s arrival at Brighton, he could provide valuable backup for Mitoma on the left flank, and this might indicate that Brighton is preparing for Mitoma’s potential departure, as they tend to plan ahead in their recruitment strategies.
Furthermore, Arsenal might have an advantage in their pursuit of Mitoma if they use the influence of his close friend and international teammate, Takehiro Tomiyasu, who plays as a right-back for Arsenal.
Mitoma has previously spoken about his friendship with Tomiyasu and how comforting it is to have him in London.
“I haven’t found it tough living here yet,” Mitoma told Optus Sport.
“Having him in London is a nice reassurance even if I can’t see him much because of busy schedules. But we get along well as teammates for Japan and we both strive to play at higher levels.”
