Paris Saint-Germain Pull Off Surprise Move for Unattached Player Amid Arsenal Speculation
Paris Saint-Germain is currently in the process of pursuing a transfer for Wilfried Zaha, with the intention of securing him on a free transfer. Previously, there were rumors connecting Zaha to Arsenal.
According to Fabrizio Romano’s report, Paris Saint-Germain is actively working on securing Wilfried Zaha through a free transfer, and they are simultaneously exploring the possibility of signing Marcus Thuram. A decision regarding these potential deals is expected to be made next week by the Ligue 1 side.
Romano also mentions that although Zaha has received offers from Saudi Arabia, he is currently prioritizing European clubs. There were reports in the English media suggesting an enquiry from Atletico Madrid for Zaha as well. The winger has until the end of June to make a decision regarding Crystal Palace’s latest contract offer.
Crystal Palace has presented Zaha with a new long-term contract worth approximately £200,000 per week, and he is giving serious consideration to this offer.
Wilfried Zaha is taking his time to make a decision regarding his future, and it appears that the opportunity to play in the Champions League is enticing to him. In April, there were reports linking Arsenal to a potential move for Zaha once his contract with Crystal Palace expires.
According to RMC Sport, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Marseille were among the clubs showing interest in Zaha, with the Premier League clubs considered favorites due to Marseille’s financial difficulties. The Daily Mail also mentioned Arsenal as a potential suitor if Zaha’s contract extension negotiations with Crystal Palace fell through, particularly considering his strong desire to play European football.
A free transfer move for Zaha is also a possibility, which would free up funds for Crystal Palace to pursue players in key positions, such as midfield.
Recent developments suggest that Arsenal’s interest in Wilfried Zaha has diminished over the past few weeks. Initially, there were reports indicating that the Gunners had identified Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby as their primary target for a wide forward position.
Furthermore, with the news of Reiss Nelson’s contract extension, Arsenal’s pursuit of a wide forward seems to have taken a back seat altogether. This suggests that the club’s priorities and focus have shifted away from signing a player in Zaha’s position.
