Pep Guardiola sends Arsenal Premier League title warning amid Man City ‘love’ admission
Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has admitted that he enjoys competing for the Premier League title despite his team’s ongoing battle with league leaders Arsenal.
City defeated the north Londoners 3-1 in February to move to the top of the table, but the Gunners then won seven consecutive league matches before drawing 2-2 away to Liverpool on Sunday.
Still, Mikel Arteta and company are six points ahead of Manchester City despite having played one more league game this season.
Now, Guardiola has declared that he is the happiest man in the world when his team is vying for the championship and has stated that he adores the final stretch of the season. The former Barcelona head coach stated on Monday that returning to the quarterfinals in Europe is a moment to celebrate.
“In September, October, November I enjoy less. When we arrive in the last stages, fighting for the title, I’m the happiest man in the world. I love to be here.
“What’s going to happen? I don’t know. [If we’re] going to win, everything is going to be perfect. If we lose, we will be a failure. Nothing is going to change. The day after, [there will be a] sunrise. We will try it again in the future.
“This is the mindset we will need to do. We have done it in the past, that’s why I’m incredibly happy with the players I have. The club we are. Everyone is pushing to be better and get better and better. That’s why we are here.”
