Premier League wage bill list sheds light on amazing Arsenal achievement and places Manchester United and Chelsea to shame
Arsenal is getting excellent value for their money, according to the recent Premier League wage bill disclosure. Although they are spending less than Manchester United and Chelsea on player salaries, the Gunners are at the top of the league table.
Chelsea, who are Arsenal’s rivals from London, are spending the most on player salaries this season. However, their season has been quite miserable, and they are currently in the 10th position in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta, who was once coached by Pep Guardiola, is leading Arsenal to a potential title victory, with a five-point lead over Manchester City, who are also spending a lot on player wages.
Only these two teams seem to be in contention for the title, as Manchester United are 16 points behind Arsenal with 11 games left to play.
Arsenal is achieving their success while keeping their wage bill relatively low.
The club spends around £98 million on player salaries each year, which is the sixth-highest amount in the Premier League, and less than Liverpool and Tottenham.
This information comes from a report in the Mirror. In contrast, Chelsea’s wage bill is significantly higher at £212,090,000, which is more than double Arsenal’s amount.
The two highest-paid players at Arsenal are Gabriel Jesus, who earns £265,000 per week, and Thomas Partey, who earns £200,000 per week.
They are the only two players at the club who earn £200,000 per week or more. The next highest earner is Oleksandr Zinchenko, who earns £150,000 per week.
In comparison, Chelsea has five players who earn £200,000 per week or more: Raheem Sterling (£325,000 per week), Kalidou Koulibaly (£295,000 per week), N’Golo Kante (£290,000 per week), Reece James (£250,000 per week), and Wesley Fofana (£200,000 per week). The difference in wages between the two clubs is quite significant.
Manchester United are the second-highest spenders on player salaries, with a yearly bill of £211,875,000, which is also more than double what Arsenal spends. Manchester City ranks third on the list, with a yearly wage bill of £182,640,000, followed by Liverpool at £158,788,000 per year.
Interestingly, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal’s local rivals, have a higher wage bill than Arsenal, with a total of £110,438,000 per year. This amount is almost £13 million higher than Arsenal’s wage bill.
Brighton and Brentford have the lowest wage bills in the Premier League, which makes their current battle for European spots even more impressive.
Brentford spends the least, with a wage bill of just £30,170,000 per year, followed by Brighton at £35,685,000 per year.
Aston Villa and Everton are just below Arsenal on the wage bill list, with yearly expenditures of £89,880,000 and £80,707,000, respectively.
At the start of the season, both clubs employed England legends Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard as their managers, but they were later replaced by Unai Emery and Sean Dyche, respectively, as relegation form threatened their seasons.
