PSG pursuing two Arsenal players and could try to sign them this month
According to French media outlet Media Foot, Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Arsenal duo Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba, and they may try to sign both players before the end of the January transfer window.
Now, Paris Saint-Germain believes they have no chance of successfully poaching Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan. The report claims PSG are having trouble convincing the centre back to move to France despite the fact that his contract will be up at the end of the season.
Both Martinelli and Saliba are young stars for Arsenal, having just turned 21. Both have been linked to new contracts with the Gunners. However, there are no foreseeable new deals in the near future. That’s despite the fact that they’re in fantastic shape for Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Martinelli has started 18 games on the left wing for the Gunners in the Premier League and has contributed to nine goals. After spending three loan periods away from the club, Saliba has returned and made an immediate impact, posting 10 clean sheets in 21 games since his return.
However, Arsenal’s plans may be derailed by the French report. The allure of PSG could be appealing for both of them. They realized that it would be too late for PSG to acquire Martinelli and Saliba in the summer and that a transfer could take place this month.
The fate of Martinelli is currently uncertain. He is now in the final 18 months of his contract. He could join Neymar and Marquinhos, two teammates on the Brazilian national team, if he moves to PSG. Therefore, PSG’s interest is not surprising.
If you’re looking for a young defender, look no further than Saliba. His contract has 18 months left, and he is nearing its end. Neither player, however, would likely leave Arsenal at the moment, with the team eight points clear at the top of the league.
