Raheem Sterling makes decision on Chelsea future as Arsenal explore transfer possibility
According to talkSPORT, Raheem Sterling plans to reject Arsenal’s interest and instead focus on securing his future at Chelsea.
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, holds Sterling in high regard and is keen on reuniting with the English winger whom he previously worked with at Manchester City.
Despite facing challenges in securing a regular starting position at Stamford Bridge, Raheem Sterling is committed to succeeding at Chelsea and is not actively seeking a transfer.
Since joining Chelsea from Manchester City last summer, Sterling has scored four goals in 18 Premier League games.
The 28-year-old was a major acquisition for Chelsea’s owner Todd Boehly, who paid £47.5million for his services. Prior to his move to Chelsea, Sterling enjoyed a successful seven-year stint at Manchester City, winning 11 trophies, including four Premier League titles.
Raheem Sterling’s performance at Chelsea this season has been below par, as he has only managed to score six goals in all competitions. Additionally, the team has been going through a rough patch under the leadership of Graham Potter, their current manager.
Despite the club’s significant investment in new players, including wingers such as Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Mudueke, Sterling is determined to compete for his position on the team.
It would be logical for Raheem Sterling to consider a move to Arsenal given his positive relationship with their manager Mikel Arteta. Sterling has previously expressed admiration for Arteta and the impact he had during their time together at Manchester City.
Back in 2020, the England winger said: “The manager trusted him here and he had a lot of influence on the players here and the team as well.
“So I knew once he went into Arsenal that it would be a great opportunity for him but also he would definitely implement what he wanted to bring in. And he’s a person that will put his foot down and not let things slide as you can see with the boys at Arsenal.
“They know if they don’t run they are most likely not going to play. You can see the change that he’s brought in there, you can see the energy, you can see how much he’s put into them with their off-ball work.
“We all knew before Mikel got in how much good football they could play, how technically good they were but probably off the field they weren’t as aggressive as they are with Mikel. They run their socks off now, you can see why they benefited with some good results recently.”
