‘Really dangerous’: Gary Neville surprised by £30m Arsenal player vs Man United today
Gary Neville offered words of praise to Martin Odegaard during the Arsenal vs. Manchester United match today.
While providing commentary on Sky Sports, Neville commended Odegaard, stating that Arsenal appeared highly threatening whenever he had possession near United’s penalty area.
Despite Arsenal’s dominant performance in the first half, they struggled to create scoring opportunities until Marcus Rashford opened the scoring.
United unexpectedly scored against the run of play when Kai Havertz made a costly mistake in a dangerous area.
Rashford then executed a superb finish to beat Aaron Ramsdale. However, Arsenal quickly responded, with Martin Odegaard concluding an impressive team play and quickly leveling the score.
Gary Neville expressed his admiration for the £30 million playmaker’s performance during the initial 45 minutes of the game.
Neville on Odegaard
During his commentary on Sky Sports, Neville observed that the Arsenal crowd displayed increasing enthusiasm whenever Odegaard had possession of the ball today.
“I always think when Arsenal get the ball into Odgeaard in and around the box, they look really dangerous,” the former United man said.
“The crowd anticipate something is going to happen.”
Odegaard played a pivotal role for Arsenal today, being involved in virtually every aspect of their performance, and he rightfully earned a goal in the first half.
Over the past year, the Norwegian has incorporated goal-scoring into his skill set, and he has continued to showcase his outstanding form in the current season.
The second half at the Emirates Stadium today was filled with significant VAR decisions. Around the 60th minute, Kai Havertz believed he had earned Arsenal a penalty when it seemed that Aaron Wan-Bissaka had fouled him. However, the on-field decision was reversed as it became evident that there was only minimal contact involved.
Alejandro Garnacho appeared to have secured the victory for United just before stoppage time with a fantastic move orchestrated by Erik ten Hag’s team. Unfortunately, his goal was disallowed by VAR due to an offside in the build-up.
Nevertheless, Declan Rice came through with a last-minute winning goal as United struggled to clear the ball from a corner. Gabriel Jesus sealed the victory with a late goal as United pressed for an equalizer.
While Arsenal’s performance today may not have been the most convincing, Mikel Arteta’s team once again found a way to win even when not playing at their best.
