Report: Arsenal more likely to sign £53m player over Tchouameni after ‘internal talks’

It’s said that Arsenal has a higher probability of acquiring Martin Zubimendi rather than Aurelien Tchouameni.

As per The Mirror, Arsenal is interested in recruiting Martin Zubimendi, the Real Sociedad midfielder, who has a release clause valued at £53 million.

Calciomercato has reported that Arsenal is contemplating making a move for Aurelien Tchouameni from Real Madrid.

Additionally, transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, in a conversation with Caught Offside, has suggested that the chances of Arsenal successfully negotiating a deal for Martin Zubimendi are significantly higher.

Internal discussions within the north London club have apparently taken place regarding potential midfield signings.

Mikel Arteta’s priority in acquiring a new midfielder doesn’t come as a surprise. The ongoing fitness concerns of Thomas Partey have left the Arsenal manager with limited options in the midfield.

The consistent injuries of the Ghanaian player have posed a significant challenge for Arsenal in recent times. Consequently, numerous Arsenal supporters are now advocating for Partey to be sold in the upcoming January transfer window.

Martin Zubimendi more likely to end up at Arsenal

For Arteta to approve Partey’s departure, a suitable replacement would need to be secured.

Both Zubimendi and Tchouameni are viewed as potential replacements for the 30-year-old midfielder at the Emirates Stadium.

The financial demands of the Real Madrid player would likely place him out of Arsenal’s financial range.

Tchouameni, who earns £206,000-a-week at Real Madrid and is a regular player for the La Liga giants, would be considerably challenging to acquire in the foreseeable future.

According to Jacobs, Zubimendi stands out as a much more feasible target for Arsenal. At 24 years old, he would also make a valuable addition to Arteta’s squad.

He possesses tenacity and impressive technical skills. Some have even drawn comparisons between him and Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets. Zubimendi showcases the ability to influence the game at both ends of the pitch, and could serve as an excellent complement to Declan Rice.
