‘Saved us’ – Arsenal superstar receives ‘world class’ praise after Liverpool heroics
Arsenal surrendered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Liverpool on Easter Sunday in a thrilling Premier League match, but the outcome could have been much different.
Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus scored two goals for the Gunners in the first half. Roberto Firmino’s late header earned a draw for Liverpool after Mohamed Salah scored and missed a penalty.
The draw ends Arsenal’s streak of seven consecutive victories and only increases their lead to six points at the top of the table. However, Mikel Arteta must thank Aaron Ramsdale for preventing Liverpool from scoring in extra time.
Ramsdale was on hand to deny Salah and Ibrahima Konate with two world-class saves. The England goalkeeper did an excellent job deflecting Salah’s curling shot around the post and then scrambling across his goal line to prevent Konate’s feeble touch from finding the back of the net.
The saves kept the score at 2-2 and allowed Arsenal to leave Anfield with a point. On social media, Ramsdale’s heroics have been praised, with some supporters dubbing the Arsenal goalkeeper the “Greatest of All Time.” Here are what a few of them had to say…
