Serie A star with Arsenal tattoo ‘dreams of Emirates move’
According to reports, Morten Hjulmand, a midfielder for Lecce and a lifelong Arsenal supporter, desires to transfer to the Emirates.
He has performed excellently in Italy this season and has only missed two Serie A matches, which were due to suspension.
He has also received attention from Premier League clubs, with Southampton making an £11.5 million offer for him in January, which Lecce declined. Therefore, joining the north London club would not be unexpected.
Gazzetta dello Sport, an Italian news outlet, has reported that despite being under contract with Lecce until 2024, Hjulmand is expected to depart from the club this summer. The 23-year-old has caught the attention of other teams, including Atalanta and Borussia Dortmund.
According to the same report, Hjulmand is a devoted Arsenal supporter and even has an Arsenal tattoo on his left shoulder. Growing up, he had a poster of Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira on his bedroom wall.
Although Arsenal has not expressed any interest in signing him, Mikel Arteta is reportedly looking for a midfielder who can win balls this summer, with Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo being targeted.
The Gunners made two unsuccessful attempts to sign Caicedo from Brighton in January, and eventually acquired Jorginho from Chelsea on the deadline day.
However, Arteta is still believed to be interested in the Ecuadorian midfielder and could make a move for him in the upcoming transfer window.
