SIX players face the axe with Arsenal set for massive summer overhaul with four transfers

SIX players face the axe with Arsenal set for massive summer overhaul with four transfers

According to reports, Arsenal are planning significant alterations in the upcoming summer transfer window.

They are looking to acquire four new players while letting go of six current ones. Despite this, Arsenal is currently having a remarkable season, leading the Premier League with a two-point advantage over Manchester City.

Although winning the title is their current priority, it’s worth noting that Arsenal is already in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League. The Times suggests that the revenue generated from finishing in the top four could fund the club’s summer spending plans.

Reportedly, Mikel Arteta is keen to sign two central midfielders, a winger, and a left-back in the upcoming transfer window. The article identifies Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo as specific players that Arsenal is interested in acquiring.

There are reports that Arsenal is optimistic about their chances of securing the signature of West Ham’s captain, Declan Rice, who is valued at £80million, beating out competition from Chelsea. Additionally, they are reportedly planning to revive their interest in Moises Caicedo from Brighton.

While it’s uncertain which other players Arsenal will target, there are rumors linking them to Napoli’s striker Victor Osimhen, Lazio’s midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Real Valladolid’s defender Ivan Fresneda, and Inter Milan’s wingback Denzel Dumfries.

It’s anticipated that there will be a significant number of departures from the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season. Among the players likely to leave is left-back Kieran Tierney, who has only started four Premier League matches this season due to the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko.

However, Arsenal is reportedly not planning to let Tierney go for a low fee, aiming to recoup the £25 million they paid for him four years ago.

Albert Sambi Lokinga and Nuno Tavares, currently on loan at Crystal Palace and Marseille, respectively, are also expected to be sold by Arsenal.

Folarin Balogun, who is performing well at Reims and is the second-highest scorer in Ligue 1, is also set to leave as he does not want to return to Arsenal and be behind Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah in the pecking order.

Regarding Emile Smith Rowe, Mikel Arteta must make a decision on his future as the midfielder has only played a little over 100 minutes this season due to injury.

There is a possibility that midfielder Granit Xhaka could depart from Arsenal, which would come as a surprise if his contract situation is not resolved.

Xhaka’s contract expires in the summer of 2024, and if Arsenal acquires Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo to add to Thomas Partey and Jorginho as midfield options, Xhaka could potentially leave the club.

The 30-year-old Swiss midfielder’s future at the club is currently uncertain.
