Supercomputer predicts title race outcome as Bukayo Saka fires Man City warning
A new forecast on Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League against Manchester City in the final stretch of the season has been generated by a supercomputer.
Arsenal secured a comfortable 4-1 triumph over Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium, moving them eight points clear at the top of the table on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Manchester City progressed into the FA Cup semi-finals with a convincing 6-0 victory against Burnley and did not compete in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola’s team has a chance to reduce the gap to five points if they win their outstanding game after the international break.
There is still an important game left between the two teams in the title race, which will take place at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, April 26. Despite Manchester City beating Arsenal twice this season (once in the FA Cup and once in the Premier League), both teams have yet to face each other for the third and final time next month, and Arsenal will be hoping to emerge victorious against the reigning champions.
After Arsenal’s victory against Crystal Palace on Sunday, Bettingexpert’s supercomputer, BETSiE, has made a projection for the final Premier League table. BETSiE simulated the remaining matches of the Premier League season 100,000 times, taking into account all results from the season so far (including all competitions), and projected the remainder of the season based on both pre-season expectations and xG (expected goals) for and against.
According to BETSiE’s projections, Arsenal will win the Premier League title, ending their 19-year wait, with City finishing in second place. The prediction suggests that Arsenal will win the league with 87.8 points, ahead of City on 83.8 points.
If BETSiE’s projections hold true, Arsenal would need to gather 19 points from their remaining 10 fixtures in the Premier League to secure the title. As of now, they have won 22 out of 28 games, accumulating 69 points, which is their best performance in their first 28 matches of a league campaign. Even though William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu might miss some games, BETSiE still predicts that Arsenal will win the league with a four-point lead.
According to the prediction, Tottenham would fail to qualify for the Champions League, finishing fifth, behind Newcastle in fourth and Manchester United in third. Chelsea, on the other hand, are expected to finish ninth in the table with only 51.8 points from 38 games under the leadership of Graham Potter.
Bukayo Saka fires Man City warning
Bukayo Saka, Arsenal’s star player, has issued a warning to Premier League title rivals Manchester City following Arsenal’s 4-1 win against Crystal Palace on Sunday. Saka has been a key player in attack this season, scoring twice and providing an assist in the win against the Eagles.
With this win, Saka has achieved 10+ goals and assists for the second consecutive season for Arsenal. He aims to contribute to Arsenal’s first title in almost two decades. Arsenal is now eight points ahead of City at the top of the table with just 10 games left to play, heading into the international break.
After his exceptional performance, Saka cautioned City and other Premier League rivals that Arsenal will improve even more under the guidance of Mikel Arteta in the coming years.
Speaking to BBC’s Match of the Day, the Hale End star said: “You have to give a lot of credit to Mikel [Arteta] and the coaching staff.
“The details they’ve given us to improve on the pitch has been immense. You can see, season by season by season, we’re all progressing and improving.
“We’re young and hungry. We want to achieve big things at this club – I’m loving it!”
