‘They came over’: Charlie Patino reveals what Bukayo Saka said to him in first day of Arsenal training
Arsenal’s rising talent, Charlie Patino, has shared the name of the individual who stood by him during his initial day of training with the first-team.
This 19-year-old prospect is held in high regard at the Emirates, and it appears that a promising career under the guidance of manager Mikel Arteta awaits him.
In 2021, Patino made an impactful debut for the Gunners by scoring a goal against Sunderland in the Carabao Cup.
Despite experiencing a loan spell at Blackpool, even amidst their relegation, he continued to develop.
This season, Patino has been in impressive form at Swansea City, contributing with one goal and three assists in six league matches. The 19-year-old is determined to secure a spot in the first-team lineup in the coming times.
Patino on who helped him settle at Arsenal
In an interview with the MailOnline, Patino expressed his appreciation for three senior players who welcomed him and made him feel comfortable during his initial training session with the first-team.
“When I first went over to train with the first team, Emile [Smith-Rowe], Eddie [Nketiah], Bukayo [Saka], they came over to me.
“They put their arms around my shoulder and just said, “Enjoy yourself, play with a smile on your face and just express yourself”.’
The future is bright for Patino
Despite rumors of his desire for a permanent departure this summer, Patino opted for a loan stint to facilitate his development before making a return to compete for a spot in the first-team next season.
His impressive performances in Wales have led to a call-up to the England U21 squad during the current international break, underscoring his talent.
With Arteta’s successful track record in nurturing young talents within the Gunners’ first-team, it’s evident that Patino has a promising mentor to aid his growth.
