This is your Wednesday morning compilation of news and updates regarding Arsenal.

Saliba’s contract demand

Arsenal’s William Saliba, who plays as a defender, has reportedly made a substantial request during contract negotiations for a new deal. There have been speculations about a potential transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, which has created uncertainty surrounding his future at Arsenal.

As per Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports, Saliba is aiming to secure a substantial increase in salary, considering his impressive performances that have established him as one of Arsenal’s key players.

“He obviously wants to be well compensated, and quite rightly so given the season that he’s just had,” he told GiveMeSport.

“It was always going to take a bit more time. There’s bound to be suitors and interest in Saliba because of the current contractual situation.”

Tavares’ Boey role

Arsenal could potentially have an advantage in their pursuit of Galatasaray defender Sacha Boey.

Turkish journalist Resat Can Ozbudak reports that representatives of Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares have recently held discussions with Galatasaray regarding a potential transfer during the summer.

Ozbudak emphasizes that the decision regarding Tavares’ future will be made after the upcoming Under-21s European Championship, which will be held in Romania and Georgia.

Tavares, representing Portugal, will compete against the host nation Georgia, as well as the Netherlands and Belgium in Group A.

The outcome of the championship could potentially impact Tavares’ plans, as he aims to surpass Portugal’s runner-up finish in 2021 and win the tournament.

Dortmund considering Gundogan

Reports suggest that Borussia Dortmund has entered the race to sign Ilkay Gundogan, the midfielder from Manchester City. Gundogan, who previously played for Dortmund for five years, has been linked with a potential return to his former club.

Speculation surrounding his future at Manchester City has prompted Bild to report that a reunion with Dortmund is a realistic option.

With Jude Bellingham’s anticipated £130m transfer to Real Madrid, Dortmund’s coach Edin Terzic is expected to seek a new midfielder, further fueling the rumors of Gundogan’s potential move.
