Yeah’: Mikel Arteta admits another Arsenal player got injured last night along with Bukayo Saka
Bukayo Saka wasn’t the sole Arsenal player to suffer an injury last night, as confirmed by Mikel Arteta, who mentioned that Takehiro Tomiyasu also experienced some discomfort.
Arsenal had a relaxed evening at the Emirates during their Champions League match. Sevilla couldn’t keep up with them, leading to a confident win secured by goals from Leandro Trossard and Saka.
Saka’s injury is a significant concern, as is the issue with Tomiyasu.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta suggests Takehiro Tomiyasu got injured vs Sevilla
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta implies that Takehiro Tomiyasu sustained an injury during the match against Sevilla. Arteta’s Arsenal team was already contending with several injury concerns, and the potential addition of Bukayo Saka and Takehiro Tomiyasu to the list emerged following the match.
The Gunners had to navigate the game without Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah, Martin Odegaard, Emile Smith Rowe, Thomas Partey, and Jurrien Timber.
Even though Arsenal displayed dominance against Sevilla and secured a victory, it might have led to the injury concerns for two of their players. Saka had to leave the field in the second half due to what seemed to be an ankle injury. Prior to that, Tomiyasu experienced some discomfort, prompting Arsenal to substitute him at half-time.
Addressing the reason behind Tomiyasu’s substitution, Arteta mentioned, according to Arsenal.com: “Yes, he felt some discomfort in the first half, and we decided not to take any risks.”
“He has played a lot of minutes and obviously having Alex [Zinchenko] on the bench ready to come in, I think it was the right decision.”
Arsenal has faced significant misfortune with injuries throughout this season. Their preferred attacking lineup has rarely been intact due to Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, and Bukayo Saka missing games at different times due to injuries.
Gabriel Jesus remains sidelined due to a hamstring problem, posing a significant setback. Arsenal supporters are hoping that Saka’s injury is minor and that he’ll recover in time for the upcoming game on Saturday.
Tomiyasu, who has performed remarkably lately, has a history of injury problems over the past few years. His absence in the second half raises concerns. Hopefully, it was merely a precautionary measure, and he’ll be fit to play against Burnley this weekend.
