Arsenal face Thomas Partey injury concern after absence in Ghana clash vs Angola
Thomas Partey, the Arsenal player, did not participate in Ghana’s African Cup of Nations qualifying match against Angola as a precautionary measure.
Chris Hughton, the coach of the Black Stars, has stated that Partey’s absence was not due to any fitness concerns. Despite missing two games in February due to a back injury, Partey has been an essential player this season.
However, Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal manager, now faces another injury concern after losing Takehiro Tomiyasu for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury that required surgery.
Although Partey’s absence from the game is not believed to be serious, Arteta will be anxiously monitoring his fitness once more.
The club has not provided any information about the fitness of William Saliba, who was absent from Arsenal’s victory over Crystal Palace before the international break.
Meanwhile, Eddie Nketiah’s return to fitness is still awaited by Arteta, the manager. He will be keeping his fingers crossed that Partey will be fit to play in the upcoming home match against Leeds this weekend.
In his post-match interview, Hughton said: “Thomas [Partey] has some small issues. We felt it was too big of a risk to start him [against Angola].”
In an attempt to prevent any potential injuries to their crucial midfielder during international duty, Arsenal has sent their club physio, Simon Murphy, to Ghana with Thomas Partey. The club is hopeful that Murphy’s presence will assist Partey in recovering from any minor injuries in time for the resumption of Premier League matches.
