Mathieu Flamini has already addressed potential Arsenal takeover after making £10bn
Former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini, who is now a billionaire, has not ruled out buying the club one day.
Flamini, who turns 40 on Thursday (March 7), is fondly remembered by Arsenal fans for his first stint at the club, where he played 153 times and won the FA Cup and came close to winning the Champions League in 2006.
He returned to the club for a second spell in 2013, making 93 more appearances after five years at AC Milan.
Flamini demonstrated his business acumen when he co-founded GFBiochemicals in 2010, while still playing football.
Now, 13 years later, he owns 60% of the company and serves as CEO.
According to Forbes, this venture has earned him a net worth of £10 billion, which is enough to buy any Premier League team, including Arsenal.
Stan Kroenke, the current owner, has resisted all previous attempts to purchase the club. When asked about the possibility of purchasing Arsenal in an interview with The Athletic, Flamini stated: “Obviously, those clubs [Arsenal and Marseille] have a special place in my heart.
“I never forget where I come from. In life, you never know but it’s all about the right opportunity. I’m a real believer in the right time, right place, right people. We’ll see what the future is made of,” reports the Daily Star.
“I’m a believer. If you want something very much, the universe usually brings it to you.”
